“In every thing give thanks:
for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
1 Thessalonians 5:18

There have been many tragedies in my life. Mother died, three months later my brother was killed during a time when murder was not as prevalent, two years later my daddy died. Another brother died, three nephews were killed, divorce, three heart surgeries, cancer, loss of a home and many other things. Most all happened while I faithfully served the Lord.

“….thank God no matter what happens. This is the way God wants you who belong to Christ Jesus to live.”
1 Thessalonians 5:18 (Message)

Recently I spoke to a friend who shared some hard times she was experiencing. She told me about someone we knew that had cancer. She asked, “Why do good people like you and her have to suffer like that?” “And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good ? there is none good but one, that is , God .” Mark 10:18

So then how can a good God allow so much pain? Isn't He the God who is Love Himself? 1 John 4:8 Isn't He the God that says there is nothing too hard for Him? Jeremiah 32:27 Can He not protect and deliver us from all calamities? Psalms 34:19 Jesus said, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation : but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

We are not capsulated and placed in our own little bubbles protected or exempt from the world and its troubles, for we live in a dark, fallen world. For this reason God sent his only begotten Son, Jesus Christ to save and deliver us from this world. John 3:16-17 It is our acceptance of Him that places us in His secret place (His sort of capsule) where we dwell and abide in His shadow. This is a dark world but His shadow represents the fact that the Light is always shining even through the dark times for in order to have a shadow there must be some light. John 8:12, Psalms 112:4

This world is no longer our home we are simply pilgrims passing through the storms until we make it to safety. Hebrews 13:14, Hebrews 11:13-16 While we're here He takes care of us. He gets us through the storms. He heals, delivers, supplies our every need, Philippians 4:19 blocks our enemies, destroys the attacks, strengthens us through them, Psalms 27:1-3 comforts us, fights all our battles for He is the King of Glory, Strong and Mighty in Battle . Psalms 24:8

He did not say we would never get ill. He came to save us and give us life more abundantly while we are here John 10:10 and take us to our heavenly home when it's all over. John 14:2-3

The song writer says, “If He never does anything else for me, He's done enough!” For He has clothed me with the garment of salvation and covered me with His robe of righteousness Isaiah 61:10 allowing me access to dwell in His secret place and abide in the shadow of the Almighty God! It's He who defends me! It's He who heals me! It's He who protects me! It's He who comforts me! For He is my refuge and my fortress! Psalms 91:1-4 He is my Hiding place and my song of delverance! Psalms 32:7 He is my strong habitation where I may continually resort! Psalm 71:3 When I a overwhelmed he leads me to the Rock that is higher than I. Psalms 61:2

He is my Jehovah-Jireh My Provider, He is Jehovah Rophe-My Health, My Healer, He is El Shaddai-My Sufficiency, He is Jeovah Rohi-The Lord My Shepherd!

Until I get to my Heavenly Home Revelations 21:1-2 where there will be no more death, no more sorrow, no more crying, nor pain and God Himself shall wipe all of my tears away! Revelations 21:4; there will be no more darkness and I will see His face Revelation 22:4-5, in all things and every circumstance I will give thanks!!!! Because I know, that I know, that I know, that I know I serve a Great, Loving God and there is absolutely nothing I can ever lack in Him! Psalms 34:10 Hallelujah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So what about you today? Can you give thanks in all things?

God says, “________________ (insert your name), today and everyday of your life I have carried you. Whether you felt Me or even sensed Me, I was there and AM here as you read. Close your eyes and simply give thanks, no matter what you are going through, and I will bless you.”
