“And taking the five loaves and two fish, He looked up to heaven and, praising God,
gave thanks and broke the loaves and kept on giving them to the disciples to set before the people;
and He [also] divided the two fish among [them] all.
And they all ate and were satisfied.” (Amp)
Mark 6:41-42

While giving thanks at our Thanksgiving Day celebration, I heard the Spirit whisper a profound truth: "Even the very least thing you have is still great in God."

Mark 6:41-42 describes the miracle of Jesus feeding the five thousand. In this passage, Jesus takes five loaves of bread and two fish, looks up to heaven, and gives thanks. He then breaks the bread and gives it to his disciples to distribute to the disciples even collected twelve baskets of leftover food.

In his teaching on stewardship and how to pay your bills, my Pastor taught us that you should always begin with thanking God for what you have--even if it seems insufficient--He can multiply it. 2 Corinthians 9:10 This isn't just about money or food; it's a spiritual principle of stewardship, faith, and gratitude. When you acknowledge God as the source of your provision, you are trusting in His ability to provide, and that act of faith can lead to supernatural increase.

This principe teaches:

1. Lift Up Whatever You Have to the Lord and Give Thanks.
   “And taking the five loaves and two fish, He looked up to heaven and, praising God, gave thanks…”
   Jesus lifted up the not enough and thanked the God of more than enough. Instead od focusing on what you lack, start by giving thanks for every resource you currently have. 1 Timothy 6:6 It's an act of faith that acknowledges He is the Source of all things.
   
   The King James version says, “ …he looked up to heaven, and blessed,..” In the book, The Prayer of Jabez” Bruce Wilkinson says, “To bless means to ask for God's imparted supernatural favor. Not asking for more of what we can get ourselves but crying out for the wonderful, unlimited goodness that only God has the power to know about and give to us.”
   
2. Put It in His Hands
   “And taking the five loaves and two fish..."
   Just as the disciples gave Jesus the five loaves and two fish, you must surrender what you have to God.
   
3. Trust Him- Ask the Lord how to distribute your income. (Setting aside Tithes/Offerings first)
   “… and broke the loaves and kept on giving them to the disciples to set before the people;” “ and He [also] divided the two fish among [them] all.”
   This means trusting Him with your finances and believing that He will lead you manage them in a way that provides for you. The disciples didn't know how the people would be fed but they trusted Jesus. Similary, when we trust God with our finances, we are demonstrating our faith that He will provide our needs. Philippians 4:19 I believe in tithing and whether you believe or not, trusting 10% of my income with God is better than 100% on my own without Him. Malachi 3:10-11
   
4. What You Give to Him, He Will be Multiply
   The miracle didn't happen until Jesus blessed and broke the bread. He took a meager amount and multiplied it. 2 Corinthians 9:10 Similarly, God can take your resources and multiply them in ways you can't imagine, whether through unexpected income, lowered expenses, or new opportunities. Ephesians 3:20 In other words, Priscilla Shirer says it like this:
   
   [Not only is God able to accomplish things beyond our capacity to verbalize them in prayer (beyond all we can ask) but also that He can craft solutions and remedies for us beyond our ability to reason. Our Father has catergories of answers, solutions, and options for us and our lives that we don't even know exists.]
   
5. Expect More Than Enough
   “And they all ate and were satisfied.”
   The story ends with 12 baskets of leftovers, signifying that God's provision often exceeds our expectations. 2 Corinthians 9:8

There will be times when you will abound and times when you will be abased and not have much, but as Paul taught in Philippians 4:11-13

(Amp) “Not that I am implying that I was in any personal want, for I have learned how to be content (satisfied to the point where I am not disturbed or disquieted) in whatever state I am.

12 I know how to be abased and live humbly in straitened circumstances, and I know also how to enjoy plenty and live in abundance. I have learned in any and all circumstances the secret of facing every situation, whether well-fed or going hungry, having a sufficiency and enough to spare or going without and being in want.

13 I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ's sufficiency].”

Ultimately, the goal isn't just to "pay the bills," but to live with a deep sense of peace and satisfaction regardless of your circumstances. This comes from trusting that God's provision is always sufficient.

The Bible teaches, “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18

What about you today? God says, “______________ (insert your name) think of the absolute tiniest thing that you have and believe it's not enough, lift it up to Me, bless it, thank Me and from this moment on be content. I am working and I will far exceed your greatest expectation. ”

Although Thanksgiving Day has been set aside as a special day of thanks, it's how I am determined to live everyday of my life. Everyday is a Day of Thanksgiving!!! Even in the very least crumb, I thank God!!!

Always remember: “But godliness with contentment is great gain.” 1 Timothy 6:6
