(NASB) “So teach us to number our days, That we may present to You a heart of wisdom.”
Psalm 90:12

As you count down 2013 to 2014 remember time is not promised to you. We tend to believe that we have all the time in the world, but actually only God knows how much time is left, not only for your time to leave this earth Hebrews 9:27 but the time when Christ will return Matthew 24:36. When Jesus walked with His disciples He tried to teach them spiritual things but their minds remained on the natural. They like us in the flesh could not begin to focus on the eternal. Their focus remained on an earthly kingdom which caused them to plan their status in the world. Mark 10:35-37

Most times we hear messages preached saying, “The Lord says this is your year to be blessed!” or “The Lord says whatever you have been praying for it will come to pass this year! Houses, cars, finances, more than enough!!! Yes I can hear the shouting as I type. Matter of fact I need all of these things myself and I feel like getting up, putting on some praise music and getting my shout on too!!! (Smile) Has the word, given to you for 2013, caused you to focus on an earthly kingdom?

If you have set your goals and made your plans this year are they focused on an earthly kingdom?

At one point Jesus became frustrated with His disciples, “Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me." Matthew 17:17

As Jesus headed to Jerusalem , realizing His time was almost up on the earth, He taught the disciples what was expected of them while He was away preparing our heavenly home. Luke 19:11-27 The principle in this parable is often used concerning the investment of money. If your focus is not on the eternal, your goals will only include the building of your own earthly kingdom.

Jesus showed them by example what was expected of them while He was away in Luke 19:1-9. He then said, For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost." Luke 19:10

As God's children we have been commissioned to seek and save that which are lost Matthew 28:19-20. We are no longer our own. 2 Corinthians 5:15 We were bought with a price 1 Corinthians 6:20. 1 Corinthians 7:23. It's no longer we that live but Christ lives in us. Galatians 2:20

The money given to the servants represents the time, gifts, and finances given to us to advance God's kingdom not ours. Luke 19:13

When Jesus ascended into heaven the countdown began for the day of His return and the day of judgment
Romans 13:11. So we must pray to come into a deeper understanding of who we are as God's children in the earth Ephesians 1:17-18. Our lives should be centered, planned, focused and based on God's plan and purpose to advance His kingdom and how the gifts, given to us, should be used to do so. (NLT) “So be careful how you live. Don't live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don't act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do. Ephesians 5:15-17

We only have a certain amount of time on earth and we know not the time we will depart this earth before Christ appears. "Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away." James 4:14 So we must work the works while it is day.

In your goals for this year have they included how many people will be affected by your God-given gifts to advance the kingdom of God ? (NASB) "...teach us to number our days, That we may present to You a heart of wisdom." Psalm 90:12 I love the New American Standard Bible translation (NASB),"...That we may present to You a heart of wisdom." A heart of doing everything according to Your heart's desire. And to one day hear our Father say, "... Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord." Matthew 25:23 Now it's shouting time!!!

Truly when your goals and plans are centered around the Master's desires, miraculous things happen. "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Matthew 6:33, "Delight thyself also in the Lord : and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the Lord ; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass." Psalms 37:4-5 And God is not a man that He should lie nor the son of man that He should repent. If He said it He will do it and if He spoke it He will make it good!!! Numbers 23:19 Hallelujah!!!!

God says, ___________(insert your name) always look around you and notice whom I have placed in your midst. The gifts I have given you is actually drawing them to Me. Be careful or you may hinder a timely response from them to my call. 2 Thessalonians 1:10
