“One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell
in the house of the LORD all the days of my life,
to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.”
Psalm 27:4

When I was younger there was a time when I questioned whether I was really God's child, did He really know me? One Sunday a guest Minister preached at our church. He spoke of how his daughter was dying and on her dying bed, requested that he read her favorite scripture. It was as if God was talking and I was hanging on his every word and he said, “I am the Good Shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.   My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:” John 10:14, John 10:27. As I sat in Church wondering if God really knew me, wondering if I was really His child, He spoke and tears streamed down my face for I heard the Lord say to me, "I Am the Good Shepherd, you are my sheep, Denise, and I know you." There could not have been a better scripture, at the right time and exactly what I needed to hear. What comfort His voice brought me. Romans 15:4 I inquired and He answered in the temple! Have you ever experienced God that way?

Just recently my son was ill. I brought him to the hospital. He complained of stomach pains but something unrelated was found. His pressure was extremely high, so high that he was placed on medication. The next day I checked his pressure and it was still high. He took his medication but it would not go down. As I became anxious and fearful I heard the Lord say, “Fear not, only believe” and He led me to Mark 5:36. More importantly than the hope of healing is the fact that I heard the Healer's voice.

Stop for a moment and just think about it. I was anxious and afraid about my son and Jesus said, “Fear not, only believe." I realized that sometimes I focus on the problem so much, that I don't take much thought in the fact that Jesus speaks to me. Wow! Jesus spoke to me! He could have said your son is healed by my stripes but instead He spoke what only He knew I needed to hear and at the right time I needed to hear it. Psalm 34:4 Our Lord and Savior, God Almighty, the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End just uttered something to me.

There are various ways that the Lord speaks to me but there has never been a time, that when I needed a word from Him, that I did not receive it when I went to Church, His Holy Temple, His Sanctuary. It is there where my ability to know His voice is developed. After Solomon built and dedicated God's Temple he prayed for the people asking God to hearken unto the cry and prayers made in the Temple 2 Chronicles 6:19-21. God answered his prayer 2 Chronicles 7:15-16 and said His presence will be there constantly.

Today God says stop forsaking the assembly of ourselves as some do Hebrews 10:25. You might miss the part of the puzzle you keep seeking. Psalm 77:13 Don't simply go to church but go with the expectation of meeting Him there in the beauty of His sanctuary. "One thing have I desired of the Lord , that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord , and to enquire in his temple." (KJV) Psalm 27:4. When you come to know Him like this, no one would ever have to ask you, "Are you going to church today?" Your desire to meet Him where He called us to meet together, will out weigh any excuse that would tempt you to not go. Psalm 96:6

God says, “________________ (insert your name) stop making excuses. Come to the Temple (Church) and Hear My Voice.”

(If the Lord is talking to you today and you do not have a church home ask Him to lead you, He's already there waiting. If you do Praise God! As one of the First Lady's God placed in my life would often say, "Come join us! We are going to have a hallelujah good time!!!) (smile) Psalm 150:1
