Have you ever prayed for something, and initially had faith and believed, and as you waited you started feeling like it would not happen. Recently I went on a fast praying for something specific and desperately needed. As the fast neared the end I found myself continually fighting thoughts that it wouldn't happen. Uncertainty crept in. One moment I was certain the next I wondered how, when, what if it didn't happen. It seemed as though I actually stepped into Satan's vehicle of DOUBT and began to take a ride. (NIV) “But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.” James 1:6 [Doubting means to be divided in one's mind or to debate. The term does not describe momentary doubt but a divided allegiance. NLT Commentary] (NLT) “But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind.” James 1:6 A person with divided loyalty is not completely convinced that God's way is best. He treats God's Word like it's simply human advice. He vacillates between allegiance to subjective feelings, the world's ideas, and God's promises . He stands with God one minute then because of what people say, his feelings say, and Satan questions, he lose his focus and forget that he is actually trusting in God, Himself, who has all power and authority. Who cannot fail. Debate with God?! So when we doubt, with the help of the Enemy, we actually enter into a debate and dispute with God over what He promised. Our allegiance, loyalty, and commitment to have faith in God is now divided. As Satan did with Eve, he throws out a thought that have us question God's ability, God's willingness, His mercy, loving kindness, goodness, His love for us, and we question, "Did He really say that?". So the question for us when Doubt creeps in, is in Whom am I trusting? Who am I believing in, Who holds my allegiance? Have I shifted my loyalty from the only true and living God? The only One who can help me? Psalm 34:17 Before we go any further, while we wait with expectancy for the manifestation of God's answer, we must get out of Satan's vehicle. If we hang out with Satan in his vehicle of Doubt we will shift our allegiance to something other than God. And if so, God warns, NLT “Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.” James 1:7-8 Oh no, we can't afford to ride with him and doubt. We must get out and refocus to receive our answer. Our answer to the firey darts of Doubt and Satan that says it will never happen:
My allegiance is to the Rock of my salvation. And I sing and praise my way out of that ride - [My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and His righteousnes, I dare not trust the sweetest frame but wholly trust in Jesus name, On Christ the solid Rock I stand ALL other ground is sinking sand.] What about you today, God says ______________(insert your name) where is your allegiance? Take Me at My Word. I cannot lie nor renege on My promises for there is no shadow of turning in Me. Trust Me and you will not be disappointed. | |
