I once had a Pastor who taught us the principle in Mark 6:41-42 of how to pay our bills and always be satisifed even when you do not have enough. He taught:
While praying at one of our gatherings in celebration of Thanksgiving Day, thanking God for our many blessings I heard the Spirit say, “Even the very least thing is still great in God.” There will be times when you will abound and times when you will be abased and not have much, but as Paul taught in Philippians, (Amp) “Not that I am implying that I was in any personal want, for I have learned how to be content (satisfied to the point where I am not disturbed or disquieted) in whatever state I am.12 I know how to be abased and live humbly in straitened circumstances, and I know also how to enjoy plenty and live in abundance. I have learned in any and all circumstances the secret of facing every situation, whether well-fed or going hungry, having a sufficiency and enough to spare or going without and being in want.13 I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ's sufficiency].” Philippians 4:1-13 The Bible teaches, “ In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 What about you today? God says, “______________ (insert your name) think of the absolute tiniest thing that you would not normally think about, lift it up to Me, bless it, thank Me and from this moment on be content.” Although Thanksgiving Day has been set aside as a special day of thanks, it's how I am determined to live everyday of my life. Everyday is a day of Thanksgiving!!! Even in the very least crumb, I thank God!!! “ But godliness with contentment is great gain.” 1 Timothy 6:6 Today's Prayer | |
