Someone once became so upset with me when I attempted to share why I choose not to celebrate Halloween. She said, "People like you goes too far. There is nothing wrong with simply having fun. I do not practice witchcraft nor do I believe in none of that stuff." Hmmm.... Whether we believe in that stuff or not the bible teaches that it is real and we should have no part of it. 1 Samuel 28:6-16 But I have learned not to become defensive nor respond in anger because it is the Spirit of the Living God who convicts John 16:8 and leads us to truth John 16:13. I'm not walking in a religious practice but in a relationship with the God I love and serve. It is detestable to Him so it is detestable to me. Deuteronomy 18:12

Question? Would you join in with someone who would use his/her child as a human sacrifice? I'm not talking about God and His dear Son, Jesus. I'm speaking about a person who would call you over to have a party to kill his/her child by making them pass through fire. Deuteronomy 18:10-12

The people that resided in the land that God promised His people practiced such rituals. God gave His children instructions on how to live in the midst of non-believers. These people sought many gods for their needs. This particular ritual was done in order to seek out answers to the future and to gain favor from their gods. They did not know the true and only living God. They sought things from the dead. Hmmm…..

Okay, what about a party to celebrate a night of witches, wizards, communicators with the dead, observers of times? Deuteronomy 18:14

God warned His children not to join in with such practices. Such practices are works of darkness and He is light and there is no darkness in Him (1 John 1:5) which makes us children of light (1 Thessalonians 5:5). God simply gave His children instructions on how to live in an evil and dark world Ephesians 5:8, Matthew 5:16. He hates the works of darkness. Someone once said to me hate is too strong of a word. God does not hate. Psalm 45:7, (KJV) “Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness:…” “The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity”. Psalm 5:5 Hmmm…..

(NLT) “When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, be very careful not to imitate the detestable customs of the nations living there. For example, never sacrifice your son or daughter as a burnt offering. And do not let your people practice fortune-telling, or use sorcery, or interpret omens, or engage in witchcraft, or cast spells, or function as mediums or psychics, or call forth the spirits of the dead.  Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord. It is because the other nations have done these detestable things that the Lord your God will drive them out ahead of you.  But you must be blameless before the Lord your God. The nations you are about to displace consult sorcerers and fortune-tellers, but the Lord your God forbids you to do such things.” Deuteronomy 18:9-14

In Nelson's Bible Commentary it says, “It is often said that “curiosity killed the cat.” One curiosity not worth risking one's life over, is the mystery of magic and the spirit world. God's laws spoke very clearly about the attraction of divination, witchcraft, mediums, oracles, and soothsayers; He called them “abominations.” (Deuteronomy 18:9-12)

Jesus came and taught us how to live amongst non-believers as God taught the children of Israel.We are children of Light not Darkness 1 Thessalonians 5:5. Let's not confuse those that are watching us, as God's children. There are many parties being held on Halloween. Even some of our churches are now offering an alternative to shed light on Satan's darkness. Are you in a dilema on, can I wear a costume or if so, what can I wear? We as Christians have been given our instructions. Our Father says, "...you have taken off your old self with its practices, and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator." Colossians 3:9-10

 “…let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ,...” Romans 13:12-14

Jesus says, (insert your name) “____________, would I put on a Warlock/Witch, Goblin or Ghost costume? Is it not no longer you that live but ME (Christ) who lives in you? Are you not a new creature created in ME? The instructions Our Father has given should be taught also to your children so that My name can be passed on from generation to generation. Why are you now confusing them with teaching the ways of light (God's Kingdom) and also practicing the ways of darkness (which are the ways Satan and of the world?) Romans 12:1-2 Be very careful where you send them and allow them to celebrate, they might encounter a spirit of darkness/false god out of something you think is only play. Christians tend to play with such matters but Satan never plays! " .1 Peter 5:8.

Isn't it funny how there is always a choice to choose life or death, darkness or light. Halloween is no different Deuteronomy 30:19. Where is your loyalty? Joshua 24:15 Join the party of the One who sacrificed His only begotten son so that we could live and never die. John 3:16 Hmmm…. The only parties and celebrations I choose to attend are the ones where my Daddy and Friends are also invited. 1 John 3:1-2, John 15:15

We are on the Battlefield for our Lord and we promised him that we would serve him until we die. As children of the Light, on Halloween and every night: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 Let us not be fooled by the Enemy. There is no such thing as a take off night to play with darkness. As Nehemiah did, remain on the wall. Nehemiah 6:2-3
