“Except the Lord of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant,
we should have been as Sodom ,
and we should have been like unto Gomorrah .”
Isaiah 1:9

Today's message is for the remnant and is actually about one paragraph. The length is in the written scripture.

[A remnant is a left-over amount from a larger portion or piece, whether it is food, material from which a garment is fashioned, or even a group of people. Although remnants could be looked upon as worthless scraps, and many times are, God assigned high value to those of His people whom He had set aside for holy purposes, those He labels as “remnants” in several places in the Bible.] Gotquestions.org

As we are now eye witnesses of some the perilous times the bible speaks about, we often say when a horrific tragedy happens, “We are truly in the last days.” But I watch the partying and how many Christians seem to be more focused on enjoying themselves. "A party over here and a party over there." "Man, we went out and had such a great time drinking and dancing. The music had cursing in it and there was a lot of twerking going on. I don't twerk but I get my own move on," they say. "He was singing, cursing and carrying on but I just listened and had a great time." Hmmm...

Paul said:
This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves , covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God ; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof:....” 2 Timothy 3:1-5 (KJV)

“They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly..." 2 Timothy 3:4-5 (NLT)

I find myself being led by the Spirit to much study and much prayer. I often feel like an outcast especially when they, who party, get together and make comments saying things like, “Oh she's too religious”, “She need a man”, “You need to get out and have some fun. There is nothing wrong with dancing and having a good time. You need some balance because you are too religious.”

It reminds me of Job when he prayed for his family while they partied. Job 1:5 Noah as he stood for righteousness in the midst of the partying. 2 Peter 2:5 John the Baptist crying out in the wilderness to prepare the way for the Lord. Matthew 3:1-2 I'm sure the same things were said about them. Ecclesiastes 1:9

Jesus said:
“When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah's day. In those days, the people enjoyed banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat and the flood came and destroyed them all." Luke 17:26-27

Who will die on your watch?

And the world will be as it was in the days of Lot . People went about their daily business—eating and drinking, buying and selling, farming and building— until the morning Lot left Sodom . Then fire and burning sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all. Yes, it will be ‘business as usual' right up to the day when the Son of Man is revealed.” Luke 17:28-30

This message is not for everyone but for the remnant that God has called to stand as His instruments and intercessors that his will is done on the earth. Matthew 6:10 Jesus said, "Many are called but few are chosen." Matthew 22:14 Are you one of the few, (the remnant) God has chosen to be a watchmen on the wall in these perilous times? Mark 13:33 Don't be fooled or subtly led from your post by the mockers.

Jude said:

But you, my dear friends, must remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ said. They told you that in the last times there would be scoffers whose purpose in life is to satisfy their ungodly desires. These people are the ones who are creating divisions among you. They follow their natural instincts because they do not have God's Spirit in them.” Jude 1:17-19 Hmmm....

Satan wants us to feel left out and all alone trying to entice our flesh to leave our post. James 1:14 But remember you are a living sacrifice unto the Lord for his sacred use. Romans 12:1 Many lives are at stake right in your midst and God has called you to stand in the gap.

God said:

“I looked for someone who might rebuild the wall of righteousness that guards the land. I searched for someone to stand in the gap in the wall so I wouldn't have to destroy the land, but I found no one.  So now I will pour out my fury on them, consuming them with the fire of my anger. I will heap on their heads the full penalty for all their sins. I, the Sovereign Lord, have spoken!” Ezekiel 22:30-35

[The wall spoken of here is not made of stones, but of faithful people united in their efforts to resist evil. This “wall of righteousness” was in disrepair because there was no one who could lead the people back to God.] Living Application Bible

“For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous , and his ears are open unto the ir prayers : but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.” 1 Peter 3:12

Abraham prayed for Sodom and saved Lot :“And the Lord said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous; I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know. And the men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom : but Abraham stood yet before the Lord. And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked? ” Genesis 18:20-23, Genesis 8:32-33, Genesis 19:15-16, Genesis 19:23, “But God had listened to Abraham's request and kept Lot safe, removing him from the disaster that engulfed the cities on the plain .” (NLT) Genesis 19:29

When Solomon prayed for the people, God answered: “And the Lord appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place to myself for an house of sacrifice. If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. ” 2 Chronicles 7:12-14

Are you part of the remnant, the people God has called to pray for the land?

Peter said:

“So then, since Christ suffered physical pain, you must arm yourselves with the same attitude he had, and be ready to suffer, too. For if you have suffered physically for Christ, you have finished with sin.You won't spend the rest of your lives chasing your own desires, but you will be anxious to do the will of God. You have had enough in the past of the evil things that godless people enjoy—their immorality and lust, their feasting and drunkenness and wild parties, and their terrible worship of idols.

Of course, your former friends are surprised when you no longer plunge into the flood of wild and destructive things they do. So they slander you. 5 But remember that they will have to face God, who will judge everyone, both the living and the dead.” (NLT) 1 Peter 4:1-5

Don't be fooled by the enemy. “… The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man (really do) availeth much. ” James 5:16 Our prayers give life to those who are facing death because of sin. “If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death , he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death …” 1 John 5:16 Time out for simply living just to enjoy ourselves. Desperate times calls for desperate measures. "The kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force." Matthew 11:12

“Except the Lord of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom , and we should have been like unto Gomorrah .” Isaiah 1:9

In the remnant God found his people who would not bow down to Baal, the world's idols and ways. It's in the remnant the people repented, bowed and worshipped the only true and living God. In the remnant He was able to restore the nation of Israel.

So God says:

"______________ (insert your name) you are my remnant chosen for such a time like this. As a living sacrifice how will you respond today?
