Jesus the Hope of Glory!

“Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”
1 Thessalonians 4:18

"And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. Romans 13:11" I once had a Pastor who taught that in this scripture we often think only of the day of the second coming of Christ. But he reminded us that our salvation was nearer than we realized because we don't know the day, the hour, the time, nor the second of our death. The bible teaches it's appointed unto every man once to die and then comes the judgment, nothing in between. Hebrews 9:27

Our hearts and prayers go out to the families and community of Newton , Connecticut and the Sandy Hook School .

Why Lord Why? Why the children? Only God knows the answer but we too know The Answer in the midst of this darkness, Jesus the Light of the world John 8:12, the hope of glory Colossians 1:27, who has abolished death! 2 Timothy 1:10. He points to the true home of His children, our heavenly home where He dwells. It's apparent that some may get there sooner than others but we hold on to the hope, that as horrible as this seems, there is still hope in the midst. John 14:1-3

If we allow ourselves to faint by focusing only on the deaths then where is our hope?
“In that case, all who have died believing in Christ are lost! And if our hope in Christ is only for this life, we are more to be pitied than anyone in the world. But in fact, Christ has been raised from the dead. He is the first of a great harvest of all who have died.” 1 Corinthians 15:18-20

At this time we must stand for those who are weak. Romans 15:1

We must be ready to give a reason for our faith and our hope. “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:” 1 Peter 3:15

We must pray. Have you ever felt the effects of someone praying for you? When my mother died and three months later my brother was killed (during a time when murder was not as prevalent), then two years later my father died, there were moments when I actually tried to cry and I couldn't. I felt moments as if I was floating. It's almost like angels were lifting me above my pain for they hearken unto the voice of our prayers. Psalm 103:20 God says he will give the peace that surpasses all human understanding and he guards and protects our hearts and minds. Philippians 4:6-7

We must comfort one another with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
New Living Translation (NLT) “And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died. We tell you this directly from the Lord: We who are still living when the Lord returns will not meet him ahead of those who have died. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the Christians who have died will rise from their graves.  Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever. So encourage each other with these words.”

My last message on “The Anticipation that Bless and Please God” spoke to my anticipation of Santa Claus on Christmas Eve and I prayed that God will give us an opportunity to make the anticipation of the coming of the Messiah as vivid as my anticipation of the coming of Santa Claus on Christmas Eve.

What do we say to our children about such a horrible attack on children? What a perfect time to point them to the day when they will look up and in the sky and there they will see Jesus and all their friends and loves ones, maybe even Santa Claus (rather they who dressed up as Santa :) ) .

Wherefore, today saints of God, hug your children, husband, wife, mothers, fathers, grandparents, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and comfort one another with these words.

(KJ)“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord."
