“I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken,
nor his seed begging bread .”
Psalm 37:25

I can remember a time when my daughter was a baby and I did not have enough milk for her. She was on her last bottle and I was crying out to the Lord. I remember watching her take the last drop. During this time I was anxious and praying, “Lord YOU said in YOUR WORD, “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread .” Psalm 37:25. Well to tell you the truth I said it more like this, “Lawwwwd !!!!, Lawwwd !!!!!, sob, sob, sob, scream, Lawwwd!!!!! yooou saidddd I woullllld neverrr have to begggg!!!! Lawwwd!!!!, pleasssse HELLLP meee!” LOL!!!

To be truthful, even as an adult I truly didn't have revelation on what it meant in the word that the righteous never had to beg. Oh I said it and I believed it because if God said it then it's true. 2 Timothy 3:16. But I felt like I was begging for milk so where was it. Yeah maybe the author David never seen the righteous begging bread but I was one of the righteous and I was begging bread. But I found that the reason I fell into this desperate state of mind is because I overlooked the word forsaken and went straight to beg. I begin begging as if I was forsaken.

“.....and be satisfied with your present [circumstances and with what you have ]; for He [God] Himself has said , I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]” Hebrews 13:5 (Amp)

To be satisfied in my present circumstance without milk for my child was to know that I was not forsaken nor was I without support because the Almighty, All Sufficient God was there with me. My begging, crying and sobbing was as if I was pleading with a man not GOD. And “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” Numbers 23:19 And His Word said, "...my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus .” Philippians 4:19 So there was no need to have such a fit.

I love this translation, “I was once young, now I am old. I have never seen a godly man abandoned, or his children forced to search for food.” Psalm 37:25 (NET)

If I would have stopped for a moment and recognized Who I as asking, El Shaddai the ALL Sufficient ONE, the MORE than Enough God, my Nourisher who feeds me and sustains me, “JEHOVAH JIREH” my PROVIDER. I could have rested in His instructions to, “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication
[the action of asking or begging for something earnestly or humbly] with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” Philippians 4:6

So today if you are feeling like you are pleading and begging and now feeling abandoned, stop for a moment and:

  • Remember His promise, “…. for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]” Hebrews 13:5 (Amp).
  • Remember Who you are asking. The King of kings, the Lord of lords, El Shaddai the ALL Sufficient One, Jehovah Jireh- My Provider, Jehovah Rophe – The Lord My Health, My Healer, Jehovah Rohi – The Lord my Shepherd I shall not want.
  • Then Believe in God. David said, “I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living." Psalm 27:13
  • Then Ttrust Him, Rest in His promise, and WAIT on Him. "Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.” Psalms 27:14 He will give the strength to wait for He will “… renew their strength; they (you) shall mount up with wings as eagles; they (you) shall run, and not be weary; and they (you) shall walk, and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31
  • And your answer will be manifested. "Ask and it shall be given you..." Matthew 7:7 "For every one that asketh receiveth...." Mathew 7:8 Why? Because “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” Numbers 23:19 I don't remember how, when, or where the milk came from but I know I can remember many, many, many bottles of milk thereafter.

God says, “___________________, (insert your name) you have asked, I have heard and have already answered. For I knew what you needed before you asked. If you can give your children good gifts how much more shall I give you, my child, even more. Today simply have faith in Me and wait, it will surely come to pass.”

How many of you can testify that it is most certainly true, He may not come when you want Him but He is always, always on time?!!!
