One day during a time of trouble I received the revelation, that God's names reflect who He is at each time I needed Him. When I was sick He was Jehovah-Rapha, The Lord that heals Exodus 15:26. When many were coming against me He was El-Elyon the Most High God who is in the highest place Genesis 14:17-20. When I was in financial distress He was Jehovah-Jireh My Provider Genesis 22:13-14. It's in my times of need He revealed who He was to me the Great I Am Exodus 3:14. From the beginning to the end of Hurricane Katrina, God revealed Himself to me in many ways but most of all I have come to know Him at a deeper level as my Compass, my Guide, my Leader. Although before the storm I experienced God's guidance and direction but it's in this storm I now know, that I know, that I know Him as the Lord that leads, (KJV) “Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD thy God which teacheth thee to profit , which lead eth thee by the way that thou shouldest go .” Isaiah 48:17 When news hit about the magnitude of the storm, we did not know what to do, if we should evacuate or where to go. After ceasing from the panic, our family prayed, sat down and the Lord directed us Proverbs 3:5-6. We were led to a hotel in a place that we never heard of, Monticello , Ar. Our decision was not made out of fear Isaiah 41:10 but by faith from God's leading, guidance and direction and His promise to never forsake us. Isaiah 42:16 The storm did not take God by surprise. As He spoke to His people in Exodus 23:20 He had already prepared a place for us. By not listening to the “they said this” and I heard you should that” and going directly to the only One who knows, we reached our prepared place. Once we arrived our family gathered together in one of the hotel rooms and prayed. What now Lord? God gave us the scripture Jeremiah 29:3-7. It was actually a foundation and promise to stand on while we were there, letting us know we would be there for a while. We were overwhelmed with God's provision. From receiving a call at the hotel from a distant relative who paid for part of our hotel bill, from surrounding churches almost fighting to pick us up to bring us to churches to feed us physically as well as spiritually, from a Community Fish Fry that gathered us together to meet and introduce us to the mayor, leaders, pastors, churches, schools and community, from having people walk up and give us gift cards from $25 to $100, receiving beautiful places to live, and receiving brand new furniture. More importantly than all, God provided an interim church, Holmes Chapel Church; interim Pastor, Alford Branch; 1st Lady Rutha Branch and a loving church family. I filled a vacant position for Sunday School Teacher, joined the Choir and continued serving the Lord in the place He had already prepared. 1 Corinthians 2:9 (not wanting to take scripture out of context but this is the way the Lord spoke to me during these times) His leading also allowed me to work in my same job and position away from home. The Marketing Manager, when asked, stated it was impossible for me to perform my job in such a small town that was not set up to handle my position. I remember the Spirit quickening me to say to myself, “what's impossible to man is possible with God” and at about 10:00 that night she called my cell phone and told me to report to work in that small town, performing my same job and holding my same position. Nobody but God!!! He had already prepared the small, newly built office with a window view, that no one had occupied, equipped with a phone and computer needed to perform my job. Where would have I been if I did not seek the Lord's guidance? Isaiah 42:16 What about you today? Are you still trying to do things on your own? Proverbs 3:7 Are you listening to what "they said" or "I heard" or "I think you should do that". Only God knows all, is all, and will lead you to your prepared place for He is the Lord that leads! Psalm 32:8 The Lord says " ________________ (insert your name) I am the LORD thy God which teacheth thee to profit , which lead eth thee by the way that thou shouldest go. Trust Me today and lean not to your understanding. Stop being wise in your own eyes, depart from following your own way for only I know the place for which I have prepared for you. Come to Me today with the expectation that you will receive as you ask according to My will and not your own and especially not according to some else's desires or will for your life." (The word He gave us when we arrived to Monticello, Ar (a great community of believers) was confirmed by my daughter conceiving and birthing my grandson while there for over one year Jeremiah 29:6. God is ______ and all the time God is _______!) (smile) Share your thoughts
